Learn how to validate a rule project to enable the generation of an Excel scenario file template. This tutorial works with the classic rule engine and Decision Validation Services.

Learning objectives

In this tutorial, you learn how to validate a rule project to enable the generation of an Excel scenario file template. The tutorial shows the relationship between the Business Object Model (BOM) and the Excel scenario file template, and how to configure the BOM so that you can generate Excel scenario file templates with the correct columns.

In this tutorial, you learn how to:

  • Select the constructor that defines the required column headings in the Excel scenario file.
  • Give a meaningful name to the required column headings.
  • Create a virtual attribute on the BOM to test one element of a collection, and add a new test in the Expected Results sheet.
  • Add a new attribute to use as an input parameter in the Scenarios sheet, and choose the implementation class for the interface that types the attribute.
  • Add a domain in the BOM, and see how it is used and maintained in the Excel scenario file.
