What's new in Maximo Anywhere 7.6.3

New features in IBM® Maximo Anywhere version 7.6.3 improve the efficiency of the installation process, the view of data in the IBM Maximo® Anywhere Work Execution app, and the ability to work offline. Improvements to the user interface, and serviceability are also included.

Installation process improvements

You can now complete the following tasks during installation:
  • View videos of the installation process.
  • Specify information for push notifications support.
  • Specify the path to the directory where you installed Oracle JDK.
  • Select which apps to build, deploy, and distribute.
  • Ensure, during the installation of the Maximo Asset Management component, that a user has the appropriate security group permissions to log in to the Maximo Anywhere apps after the installation of the product is completed.
  • Enable the Anywhere Administration capability so that you can modify the apps from Maximo Asset Management by using the Anywhere Administration application.
  • Enable demonstration mode in the Anywhere Administration app to ensure that any user has end-to-end connectivity with limited data that is established from the device. The Anywhere Administration app properties to set to true are Si.demomode and Si.demopagesize.
  • Run the build all command and the admin-config-loader.xml utility from the launchpad after the installation is complete.

The installation process now validates the required components, such as operating systems, servers, and SDKs, and informs you of any issues.

Online and offline properties and a property to check Fix Central for Maximo Anywhere updates

The build.properties file in the maximoanywhere_home\Anywhere\MaximoAnywhere directory contains new properties:
  • If the build.process=offline property is set, compatibility with the previous build process is in place. However, configuration information, such as the operating system, SDK level, servers, and fix pack level, that is available as part of the build.properties file is not validated.
  • If the build.process=online property is set, the configuration information in the build.properties file is validated. Also, this property ensures that the app successfully runs on your mobile device. If a build failure occurs when this property is set, with error management you can see why the build might be failing and how you can correct the situation. The default value for this property is online.
  • To enable a check on Fix Central to see whether a Maximo Anywhere fix pack is available, set the build.update.check.enabled= property to true. If a new fix pack is available, you can find the link to Fix Central in the log. You can then use that link to access Fix Central, and then download and apply the fix pack.

Serviceability

The logging process now provides incident-based logging on the mobile device, providing date and time stamps and an activity indicator to help troubleshoot the entire build process. Learn more about serviceability.

User interface improvement - split panes

When split panes are enabled, you can see combined views, lists, and details in the IBM Maximo Anywhere Work Execution app. Because the views can be seen as a single page, fewer steps are required to complete work orders, leading to improved productivity. Learn more about split panes.

User interface improvement - new skin

The app's images and colors have a new look and feel. This new design aligns the Maximo Anywhere user interface to be consistent with that of Maximo Asset Management.

Maximo Anywhere apps now downloadable from either Google Play or Apple App Store

The apps are available for download from either Google Play or Apple App Store. Learn more about which apps are available and what capabilities these apps have compared with apps that are built and deployed in your integrated development environment.
