Enabling or disabling encryption for physical volumes using C-SPOC

You can encrypt or decrypt the physical volumes with the C-SPOC utility.

About this task

You can encrypt or decrypt the physical volumes of a configured disk on all selected nodes in the cluster with the C-SPOC utility. You can encrypt or decrypt a disk if it is not part of a volume group. Before you encrypt or decrypt a disk in the cluster, verify that the disk is not part of an existing volume group. If the disk is part of an existing volume group, enter the smitty cl_vgsc command and select Remove a Volume from a Volume Group.

To encrypt or decrypt a physical volume with C-SPOC, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. From the command line, enter smitty cl_disk_man.
  2. Select Enable/Disable Encryption for a Physical Volume.
  3. Select the disk which you want to encrypt or decrypt.
  4. Select the enable/disable option for the selected physical volume in the disk.
  5. Enter the authorisation name for the physical volume in the Auth Method Namefield.
  6. Press Enter.

Results

C-SPOC will encrypt or decrypt the physical volume of a disk from the cluster nodes.
