Migrating to IBM Robotic Process Automation with Automation Anywhere V11.0

You can upgrade your IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere V10.0.x environment to IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere V11.0 and then migrate your Control Room data to V11.0. Before you upgrade IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere clients to V11.0, ensure that the Control Room upgrade is complete and the data is migrated.

About this task

Control Room considerations
  • Control Room components. V11.0 no longer has application and shared data and services components and does not support a custom distributed installation for Control Room. If you configured your V10.0.x environment for high availability and disaster recovery by using a custom distributed installation, you will need to configure Control Room V11.0 for a clustered environment instead.
  • The Control Room database. V11.0 now has two databases instead of only one in V10.0.x . Therefore, you cannot reuse your existing database and must create a new Control Room database and a new Bot Insight database, and then migrate your data.
  • User authentication. If you change the user authentication type when you upgrade to Control Room V11.0, you cannot migrate your data from V10.0.x to V11.0. For example, if your V10.0.x Control Room is configured for Active Directory, you cannot migrate your data to V11.0 if Control Room is configured for non-Active Directory or single sign-on authentication.
  • Connecting to IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere clients. You cannot connect a V10.0.x IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere client to a V11.0 Control Room.
IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere client considerations
  • Upgrading an IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere client. The installation program automatically uninstalls the old version and installs the new version in its place. After upgrading to V11, your V10.0.x artifacts will be available in the upgraded client. No further action is required.
  • Connecting to Control Room. The Control Room must be a V11.0 Control Room. You cannot connect a V11.0 IBM RPA with Automation Anywhere client to a V10.0.x Control Room.
