Projection Lines and Category Range Bars

For line charts and charts to which you add an interpolation line, you can display a projection line. You can also display category range bars for charts with multiple lines.

How to Add a Project Line or Category Range Bars

Your chart must include a line graphic element.

  1. Select the interpolation line or the line in a line chart.
  2. If the Properties window is not displayed, from the menus choose:

    Edit > Properties

  3. Use the Line Options tab to display the projection line in the location you want and to display the category range bars. The check box for displaying category range bars is enabled only if the chart contains multiple lines.
  4. Click Apply.

Using the Line Options Tab

Display Category Range Bars. For charts with more than one line, you can display bars that connect the lines for each category. These bars emphasize the category ranges.

Display Projection. Create a projection line. Select this option to differentiate visually between values before and after the value in the Category list box or the Value text box. Use Direction to specify whether the projection portion of the line begins before or after the value. The projection will be displayed with a weight different from the other portion of the line. Any other formatting (for example, color) applies to the whole line. Note: This option applies to all line graphic elements in the chart. You cannot have it active for some but not for others.
