Obtaining X-Bar, R, and s Charts Summarizing a Single Process Measurement Variable

This feature requires the Statistics Base option.

1. From the menus choose:

   Analyze > Quality Control > Control Charts

2. Select the icon for X-bar, R, s and select Cases are units.
3. Click Define.
4. Select one numeric variable that contains the measurements for the process being analyzed and move it into the Process Measurement field.
5. Select the categorical variable that defines your subgroups and move it into the Subgroups Defined By field.
6. If using control rules, select a variable and move it into the Identify Points By field. This variable identifies points in the rule violations table. Otherwise, the subgroup variable is used.
7. Click Control Rules and specify rules for identifying out-of-control points. These points have a different shape and color in the charts. The output also includes rule violations tables for the primary and secondary charts.
8. Select one of the options in the Charts group to choose the type of charts to generate.
