Purpose of this information

The purpose of this information is to help you define an I/O configuration using the Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) element of z/OS®.

This information presents an overview of I/O configuration using HCD and dynamic configuration and describes the following tasks:

Planning an I/O configuration
Defining an I/O configuration at IPL time
Defining an I/O configuration dynamically on a running system.
