Reestablishing access to previously deleted, migrated data sets (no backup exists, ML2 only)
Perform the following steps to reestablish access to previously deleted, migrated data sets:
- Keep multiple CDS backup versions so you can recover from situations such as this.
- Create backup copies of data sets that are important. Without a backup copy, the migration copy of a data set is the only copy you have.
- Use the DCOLLECT function to track what data exists in active, migrated, or backed up format at the time the DCOLLECT function is run. If you run DCOLLECT daily or a couple of times a week, with output going to a generation data group (GDG), the DCOLLECT information could be a valuable asset in data recovery.
