Specifying the maximum number of data set recovery tasks in each host

In recovering from incremental backup versions (as the only source or during APPLYINCREMENTAL processing after a volume restore), DFSMShsm can recover multiple data sets in parallel.

The MAXDSRECOVERTASKS parameter of the SETSYS command controls the number of concurrent data set recovery tasks (to a maximum of 64) that should be started for both DASD and tape; and the MAXDSTAPERECOVERTASKS parameter of the SETSYS command specifies the maximum number of concurrent data set recovery tasks that should be started for tape. To decide how many concurrent tasks DFSMShsm should run, consider how many tape drives are available if you use tape backup volumes.

MAXDSTAPERECOVERTASKS is an optional SETSYS keyword. SETSYS MAXDSTAPERECOVERTASKS(0) should be specified if you do not want any data set recoveries from tape. The default value of MAXDSTAPERECOVERTASKS is the value of MAXDSRECOVERTASKS, and cannot exceed the value specified for MAXDSRECOVERTASKS. This requires you to specify MAXDSRECOVERTASKS before MAXDSTAPERECOVERTASKS, if the value for MAXDSTAPERECOVERTASKS is greater than the default value for MAXDSRECOVERTASKS.
