Obtaining information from DFSMShsm

In using DFSMShsm, you may have occasion to require information about what is happening in the processing. DFSMShsm provides extensive facilities for determining what the conditions are in the product. The DFSMShsm log and the activity logs have already been mentioned. In addition to the logs, you can obtain the following from DFSMShsm:

• Information from the control data sets
• Information about the present operating conditions in the DFSMShsm address space
• Information about availability of output tape volumes
• Statistical information about DFSMShsm operations
• A trace of DFSMShsm’s processing
• Information about the conditions in the system if a specific error occurs
• Determining the results of volume space management data set selection without actually moving data sets
