Using z/OSMF to invoke the z/OS Problem Documentation Upload Utility

The IBM® z/OS® Problem Documentation Upload Utility (PDUU) is a utility that you can use to send diagnostic data, such as an SVC dump, to IBM FTP sites. PDUU sections the input data set into smaller data sets that are compressed, optionally encrypted, and sent in parallel using multiple, simultaneous FTP sessions. Using PDUU to section large data sets and send the sections in parallel is more efficient than using FTP to send one large data set.

In z/OSMF, you can use PDUU to transfer files to IBM FTP sites. To do so, you must specify the appropriate settings in the Send Diagnostic Data wizard provided in the Incident Log task. After which, z/OSMF will generate the JCL required to invoke PDUU and transfer the files.

For more information about the settings you must specify in z/OSMF to use PDUU, see the sections that follow.

For more information about PDUU, including the prerequisites for using the utility, see the topic about the Problem Documentation Upload Utility in z/OS MVS Diagnosis: Tools and Service Aids.
