Contact an IBM® representative for purchasing zIIPs for your IBM System z® server. zIIPs can only be purchased as an additional processor unit (PU) for your server. That is, you cannot convert a standard central processor (CP) you already have to zIIP.
You may order zIIPs up to the number of permanently purchased CPs, on a given machine model. The number of zIIPs ordered may not exceed the limit of available engines in the machine model.
It is possible to concurrently install temporary capacity by ordering On/Off Capacity on Demand Active zIIPs. The number of On/Off Capacity on Demand zIIPs that you may rent is limited by the number of permanently purchased zIIPs on a given server. On/Off Capacity on Demand zIIPs may not exceed the number of permanently purchased zIIPs on a server.
