Starting, loading, and initializing the system

Before the system can do work, you must:
  1. Start the system.
  2. Prepare the system hardware.
  3. Load the system software.
  4. Initialize the system software. At this point, your installation might require you to logon to the console. See Logging on to the system.
  5. Set the time and date, as required.
  6. Start the job entry subsystem (JES2 or JES3).
  7. Specify all job entry subsystem parameters.
