FlashCopy® is much faster than traditional methods of data movement, especially for moving large amounts of data. DFSMS can use the FlashCopy feature of the ESS to quickly move the data from the source location to the target location. The source devices and the target devices must be in the same ESS, and the data to be moved must not need manipulation.
