Recovering from an Abend of ARCMMEXT Processing

z/OS DFSMS Installation Exits
SC23-6850-01

If the second-level migration exit abends, DFSMShsm
  • Does not migrate the data set
  • Stops its present migration processing
  • Holds migration
  • Issues message ARC0004I to the system console

DFSMShsm does not disable the exit. Analyze the cause of the abend and determine if it is repeatable. If it is, disable the ARCMMEXT exit by issuing the SETSYS EXITOFF(MM) command before releasing migration.
