z/OS JES3 Initialization and Tuning Reference
SA32-1005-00

Table 1. SETRES Summary
Variable Value
Required/Optional Statement Optional
Statement Default None
Placement in Initialization Stream This statement must follow the ENDJSAM statement.
Coding Considerations A real direct-access device that is listed on a SETRES statement may also be assigned the reserved mount-attribute through a VATLST entry. (z/OS MVS Using the Subsystem Interface describes VATLST entries.)
Security Usage None
Performance Considerations Using SETRES, the time required to perform volume setup following a JES3 restart is reduced and management of highly used direct-access setup volumes is simplified. (No action is taken if a specified volume is not found during initialization.) JES3 treats the specified volumes as mounted until an MDS unload is issued.
Initialization Stream Overrides None
Restart or Command Modification Cold start, warm start, or hot start with refresh for all parameters.
