z/OS Communications Server: IP Messages Volume 1 (EZA)
SC27-3654-00

SMTP TERMINATING DUE TO RENAME FAILURE AND STOPONRENF IS CODED IN CONFIGURATION FILE

Explanation

The SMTP server ended because of a failure to rename a data set associated with the batch connection (257) and the option STOPONRENF is coded in the SMTP configuration file.

Message EZA5544E is generated when a RENAME failure identifies the data set that SMTP was unable to rename. If this data set name is smtphlq.CONN257.NOTE, then a note being processed by the batch connection (257) might have been lost.

See the information about the STOPONRENF configuration statement in z/OS Communications Server: IP Configuration Reference.

System action

SMTP stops.

Operator response

System programmer response

Determine why the RENAME failure is occurring. Check the system console log for messages prior to the EZA5544E message that are associated with the failing data set name. Change the SMTP configuration file if you want SMTP to continue when these types of failures occur.
