IBM BookManager READ/MVS V1R3 Displaying Online Books
SC38-2034-00

Suppose you have 1,000 books. BookManager lets you organize them into collections of books on a particular subject. Each collection is referred to as a bookshelf. Instead of seeing a list of 1,000 books, you might see a list of 100 bookshelves. BookManager READ keeps each bookshelf in its own data set. Although not required, it is suggested that the low-level qualifier for a bookshelf data set name be BKSHELF. For example:

     BKMGR.MVSBOOKS.BKSHELF

A bookshelf data set contains:

  1. The names of the data sets containing the books on this bookshelf. This allows BookManager READ to find the books on this bookshelf.

  2. A description of the bookshelf contents. This provides you with the subject of the bookshelf.

  3. The title of each book on the bookshelf. This helps you select which book to read. Otherwise, BookManager READ would have to access and read the title from each book.

  4. The date each book was built using BookManager BUILD.

  5. The name of the bookshelf search index, if one is available.
