Summary of changes
PSF for z/OS®:
Customization, S550-0427-04
This publication contains additions and changes to information
previously presented in PSF for z/OS: Customization, S550-0427-04.
General changes
- References to PSF 4.2.0 for z/OS have
been removed because it is no longer in service.
- References to AIX® 5L POWER® have been removed because
it is no longer in service.
- References to "InfoPrint ProcessDirector" have been changed
to "Ricoh ProcessDirector".
- The z/OS Font Collection
(a base feature of z/OS V2R1)
and Infoprint Fonts for z/OS have
been added to references of the AFP Font Collection.
- PSF now supports these resources in direct-printing mode: TrueType
and OpenType fonts; QR Code bar codes with SOSI data; resources defined
with resource access tables (RATs), such as object containers and
color management resources (CMRs); extended code pages. PSF also supports
the FONTPATH and OBJCPATH PRINTDEV parameters in direct-printing mode.
Changed information
- A description of Mixed Object Document Content Architecture Presentation
Interchange Set 3 (MO:DCA IS/3)
has been added to Understanding PSF for z/OS.
- The title for Chapter 2 has been updated to "Configuring the
system for PSF for z/OS".
A new topic, Enabling PSF in the SYS1.PARMLIB member, has been added. Changing the system environment has been updated
with a note for defining an OMVS segment and home directory to the RACF® user ID or group name.
- Information that PSF supports IPv4 and IPv6 has been added to Requirements for using a TCP/IP-attached IPDS printer.
- JES has been changed to JES2 in Using commands to backspace and advance printer output.
- A note has been added to Connecting TCP/IP-attached printers.
- Understanding performance issues has been updated with a recommendation
for buffer size based on performance testing.
- Table 5 has been updated.
- Information about the Log messages parameter has been
updated in Common message log, Specifying Printer Inventory parameters, and Log messages.
- References to Unicode-enabled or enabling PSF for Unicode have
been removed or updated, including in these topics:
- The parameter description for Printer IP address has been
updated.
- Figure 34 has been updated with a fourth TCP/IP-attached
printer.
- The CHARS and FCB default values for the JES3 initialization statement
parameter, PDEFAULT, have been updated to indicated
that the PRINTDEV value for CHARS or PAGEDEF is used when WS=U or
WS=C is specified on the DEVICE statement. Also see Page definitions in deferred-printing mode and FOCA fonts in deferred-printing mode.
- The JES3 initialization statement parameter, WS,
has been added.
- The wording describing Figure 37 and Figure 38 in Sample PSF startup procedures have
been updated.
- Figure 37 has been updated with the DD name for the
AFPPARMS control statement and multiple changes for a new TCP/IP-attached
printer that generates separator pages and message data sets by using
only TrueType and OpenType fonts.
- The UNICODE parameter in the PARM EXEC statement has been removed.

- Disabled mechanisms has been updated with a note about restarting
the PSF FSA.
- The map of SMF type 6 records in Figure 48 has been
updated.
- Figure 50 has been updated with a font path DD statement
for TrueType and OpenType fonts.
- Searching for resources specified by a print job has been updated with information about where
resource types are located.
- Minimum storage requirements for FSSs and FSAs have been updated
in Selecting region sizes.
- A note that MO:DCA IS/3
data streams support only TrueType and OpenType fonts has been added
to Using TrueType and OpenType Fonts.
- The SYSLIB statement in Figure 71 has been updated.
- The sample JCL for Compiling a C exit has been updated to
explicitely refer to the ILP32 default, and a note has been added
that PSF C exits are only supported in 32-bit mode.
- Figure 73 has been updated.
- The format of the APSUECE exit-communication area has been updated
with new fields. See Figure 78 and the updated fields starting
at ECEDSCNT.
- IAZJSEP has been replaced with JSPEXT. See JES job-separator-page area—IAZJSPA.
- "JPEG File Interchange Format (JFIF)" has been changed to "AFPC
JPEG Subset (JPEG)" in Hardcopy printer information report and Softcopy printer information report.
Deleted information
- A table of approximate maximum printer data rates has been removed
from Printer data rate requirements.
- Reference to AFP Font Collection 2.1.0 has been removed in Double-byte raster font capture because it is obsolete.
- The "Generating QR Code bar codes in a page definition" chapter
has been removed.
- The "Activating conversion services" appendix has been removed.
