Running the PIDU program

Before running the PIDU program, Infoprint Server must be started. The Printer Inventory Manager daemon, aopd, must be active.

To run the PIDU program, you must have a UID of 0 or be a member of the AOPADMIN group. In addition, you must have access to one or more of these RACF® resource profiles:

  • AOP.ADMINISTRATOR profile in the PRINTSRV class:
    • READ access lets you display, dump, export, or list any object in the Printer Inventory.
    • UPDATE access lets you create, delete, force-create, modify, or rename any object except for the system configuration definition.
If the AOP.ADMINISTRATOR profile does not exist, READ access to the AOPADMIN profile in the FACILITY class lets you do the functions.
  • AOP.CONFIGURATION profile in the PRINTSRV class:
    • READ access lets you display, dump, export, or list the system configuration definition.
    • UPDATE access lets you force-create or modify the system configuration definition.
If the AOP.CONFIGURATION profile does not exist, UPDATE access to the AOP.ADMINISTRATOR profile in the PRINTSRV class lets you force-create or modify the system configuration definition. If both the AOP.CONFIGURATION and AOP.ADMINISTRATOR profiles do not exist, READ access to the AOPADMIN profile in the FACILITY class lets you do all functions.

For information about how to establish security for the Printer Inventory, see z/OS Infoprint Server Customization.
