Roadmap: Upgrading your V85 environment to V9

If you have an existing IBM® WebSphere® Portal Version 8.5 server, upgrade to Version 9 using the continuous feature release process. WebSphere Portal Version 9 provides capabilities to integrate with IBM Watson Content Hub.

Who should use this roadmap

Use this roadmap if you are an organization with the following requirements:

  • An organization that needs a cloud-based content repository to store their assets.
  • An organization that requires IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 9.0.

Upgrade from WebSphere Portal V8.5 to V9.0

WebSphere Portal V9.0, requires that you first upgrade to the latest WebSphere Portal V8.5 combined cumulative fix level. Then, you can install WebSphere Portal V9.0.

Procedure

  1. Upgrade your existing WebSphere Portal V8.5 system to the latest combined cumulative fix (CF) level. The minimum CF level is CF 13.
  2. In a clustered environment, start your Deployment Manager.
  3. Start the IBM Installation Manager.
  4. Install WebSphere PortalV9 using passport advantage to connect to the new repositories.
  5. Optional: Install WebSphere Application Server V9.0.
  6. Optional: Migrate to WebSphere Application Server V9.0.
