Planning and monitoring operational reports usage

Cognos on Cloud users can plan and monitor the operational reports usage.

IBM® Sterling Order Management System provides you with powerful reporting tools from the Cognos on Cloud service to generate operational reports from the Sterling Order Management System database. This cloud service is provided free of charge to all subscribers of Sterling Order Management System. To encourage fair usage of the Cognos On Cloud service and to benefit all users of the service alike, there are usage limits that are mandated on the number of report invocations per week.

If you are using the Sterling Order Management System Standard Edition, the usage limit is 280 report invocations per week. If you are using the Sterling Order Management System Essentials Edition, the usage limit is 140 report invocations per week.

You can plan your reports usage such that the total of scheduled invocations and ad hoc invocations per week fall within this usage limit.

To monitor your reports usage, use one of the following methods:

  • You can generate weekly reports by using the sample Past Week Reports that is provided as part of the SMCF-Audit package. You do not have to contact your CSMs to generate this report.

Reports that are run by using this package are excluded from the audit count that monitors the report execution count.

For more information, see Past Weeks Report.

  • If you need to drill down to specific time windows, contact your CSM.

The suggested best practice is to have an early discussion with your CSM to plan your ongoing usage of the Cognos on Cloud service. There are commercial options to purchase additional report invocations if you have an elevated pattern of reporting use.
