Attach storage devices, select and install device drivers, and configure the necessary Tivoli® Storage Manager objects to use devices with the server.

- Attach the devices to your system, which includes physically attaching the devices, configuring the device drivers, and determining the device names.
- Define the device within the Tivoli Storage
Manager server:
- Define a library for the drives by issuing the DEFINE LIBRARY command.
- Define the drives by issuing the DEFINE DRIVE command.
- Define the paths from the server to library and drives by issuing the DEFINE PATH command.
- Define a device class by issuing the DEFINE DEVCLASS command.
- Define a storage pool that is associated with the device class by issuing the DEFINE STGPOOL command.
- Include the storage pool in your storage hierarchy. To complete these tasks, you can use the administrative client command line.
