Setting up access for CICS Explorer

To configure and manage CICS regions from CICS Explorer®, you must set up the CICS management client interface (CMCI). You can create a CMCI connection to a CICSPlex SM environment or to a stand-alone CICS region (SMSS).

To install the CICS management client interface (CMCI) in a CICSPlex SM environment, you must prepare a CICS region as a Web User Interface (WUI) server and set the CMCIPORT WUI system initialization parameter.

To use the CICS management client interface (CMCI) in a stand-alone CICS region (SMSS) without using CICSPlex SM, you must add the SEYUAUTH and SEYULOAD libraries to the startup JCL of your CICS region and then install URIMAP and TCPIPSERVICE resource definitions.
Setting up CMCI in a CICS region with active security
To set up CMCI with active security in a stand-alone CICS region (SMSS), you must change the settings in the sample definitions. Copy and rename the samples, then change the TCPIPSERVICE definition to enable security, and update the URIMAP definition to refer to the updated TCPIPSERVICE definition.
Estimating storage requirements for CMCI
To avoid possible storage problems when you use the CICS management client interface, you must specify appropriate levels of 64-bit (above-the-bar) storage in the CICS region, and auxiliary storage. Use the z/OS® MEMLIMIT parameter to set the limit for 64-bit storage in your WUI server or CICS region, and the MAXAUXCPSM and MAXAUXTOTL CICSPlex SM system parameters to set auxiliary storage for the CMAS.
Record count warnings in CMCI
Setting up record count warnings causes a CICS management client interface (CMCI) request to fail if a request is likely to result in the retrieval of an unacceptably large amount of data. You set up record count warnings by specifying a nonzero value for the DEFAULTWARNCNT initialization parameter during WUI server configuration when setting up CMCI.
