Taking process servers offline

If a runtime process server is connected to IBM® Process Center and is currently online, you can take the server offline.

Before you begin

Ensure you have administrative access to the Process Center repository to take servers offline. For more information, see Granting access to the Process Center repository.

About this task

Taking a server offline removes the connection to the Process Center and any references Process Center has to the online server. When the server is offline, you cannot install process applications on the server from Process Center and IBM Process Server will not connect to Process Center.

Procedure

On the online Process Server, perform one of the following actions:
- If you are using wsadmin commands, set the heartbeat interval to -1. For more information, see Using wsadmin commands to customize the Process Server settings used to connect to Process Center.
- If you are using the admin console, select Use server offline. For more information, see Using the administrative console to customize the Process Server settings used to connect to Process Center.
Ensure your changes are saved and synchronized with the nodes.
Restart the Process Server deployment environment.
Click the Servers tab in the Process Center console.
For the server that you want to take offline, click Take Server Offline and confirm your selection.
For the server that you just took offline, click Remove Offline Server and confirm your selection.

Results

If necessary, you can now create a new offline server to manage your deployment packages by following the instructions in Adding offline servers to the Process Center console.
