To set the levels of trace for IBM® Business Monitor server
components, you can change log details.
Before you begin
Before you begin this task, you must log in to the
WebSphere® Application
Server administrative
console.
About this task
Complete the following steps to configure the logging levels
for
IBM Business Monitor server
components:
Procedure
- In the WebSphere Application
Server administrative
console, click .
- In the Server column, click the name of the application
server on which the components whose logging levels you want to set
are deployed.
- Click Change Log Level Details.
- Ensure that Components is selected.
Note: You can also trace a specific model by selecting Groups and
then changing the trace level in the model and version in the list
provided.
- Choose one of the following options:
- If you want to change the logging levels for the current session
only, select the Runtime tab.
- If you want to set the logging levels for all sessions, select
the Configuration tab.
- If you want to change the logging levels for the current session
and across all sessions, select the Runtime tab,
and select Save runtime changes to configuration as well.
You should record the current log settings in a safe place.
You will need this information to disable the detailed logging.
- Click + associated
with com.ibm.wbimonitor to expand the component
loggers.
- Click a logger name to change the log details. To
enable tracing on specific components, click one of these logger groups:
- com.ibm.wbimonitor.dataservices.*
- com.ibm.wbimonitor.lifecycle.*
- com.ibm.wbimonitor.observationmgr.*
If you are unsure which component logger to trace, you can
enable tracing on com.ibm.wbimonitor.* to trace on all IBM Business Monitor components.
Tracing on the com.ibm.wbimonitor.* logger will generate a large amount
of data. However, there is a greater performance impact associated
with this level of trace.
- Choose the appropriate level of tracing.
Note: When you change the level for a logger, the change is
propagated to the children of the logger.
For additional information
regarding trace levels, click ? in the title
bar of the panel to open the help page.
- Optional: If you selected
the Runtime tab, select Save runtime
changes to configuration as well to apply the changes
in the logging details levels across all sessions.
- Click OK, and click Save to
save changes to the master configuration.
- Optional: If you made the
changes in the Configuration tab, restart the IBM Business Monitor server
.
