Searching knowledge bases

If you have a problem with your IBM® software, you can search the information center on your local system or network or search the Internet to determine whether the resolution to your problem is already documented.

Search the information center

IBM provides extensive documentation within the information center. You can use the powerful search function of this information center to query conceptual information, instructions for completing tasks, reference information, and support documents.

Searching with support tools

The following tools are available to help you search IBM knowledge bases:
  • IBM Support Assistant (ISA) is a free software serviceability workbench that helps you resolve questions and problems with IBM software products. Instructions for downloading and installing the ISA can be found on the ISA web site: http://www.ibm.com/software/support/isa/.
  • IBM Software Support Toolbar is a browser plug-in that helps you search IBM support sites. You can download the toolbar at http://www.ibm.com/software/support/toolbar/.
