Continuous data protection for WORM-protected file volumes

If data is stored on Write Once Read Many (WORM)-protected file volumes, such as on a NetApp SnapLock-enabled file volume or in an IBM Spectrum® Scale immutable fileset, and the data is moved or copied to a non-WORM-protected volume, the data loses the unique hardware protection that is available through the NetApp WORM volumes or IBM Spectrum Scale immutable filesets.

The IBM Spectrum Protect server allows this type of movement. However, if data is moved from a WORM FILE volume to another type of media, the data might no longer be protected from inadvertent or malicious deletion. If this data is on WORM volumes to meet data retention and protection requirements for legal purposes and is moved to other media, the data might no longer meet those requirements. You must configure your storage pools so that this type of data is kept in storage pools that are defined to servers enabled for IBM Spectrum Protect for Data Retention.
