The installation programs install DB2® Warehouse in
a default directory. In addition, some files that can be used by other
compatible products are installed in a separate default directory
that is called the shared resources directory.
Installation directories
The installation
programs install the components of DB2 Warehouse in
the following default directories:
- On Linux and UNIX operating systems
- With root authority: /opt/IBM/ISWarehouse10
- Without root authority: user_home/ISWarehouse10
- On Windows operating
systems
- With administrator authority: C:\Program Files\IBM\ISWarehouse10
- Without administrator authority: user_home\IBM\ISWarehouse10
Restrictions: The following
restrictions apply to all operating systems:
- The maximum length of the root directory name is 39 characters.
- The root directory must be writeable.
- The root directory must be empty.
- The root directory cannot contain special characters in the path
name.

Note: The Intelligent Miner component is installed under the directory where your DB2 database is installed.
Shared resources directory
The shared resources
directory is used only by the Eclipse-based components of the Design
Studio. If the computer that you plan to install the client component
on has a previous installation of a DB2 Warehouse compatible
product, then you already have a shared resources directory in the
default locations. If it does not, the installation program creates
the shared resources directory in the following default locations:
- On Linux and UNIX operating systems
- With root authority: /opt/IBM/ISWShared
- Without root authority: user_home/ISWShared
- On Windows operating
systems
- With administrator authority: C:\Program Files\IBM\ISWShared
- Without administrator authority: user_home\ISWShared
If a shared resources directory exists on the
computer from a previous installation, the existing directory is used.
