DB2 Version 10.1 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

Query Patroller has been discontinued

Query Patroller is discontinued and you must use the DB2® workload manager instead as your workload management solution.

Details

Query Patroller is no longer supported in Version 10.1. Query Patroller was deprecated in Version 9.7. As a result, related registry variables have also been discontinued.

In addition, the following keywords for the response file are discontinued:
  • QUERY_PATROLLER_DATABASE
  • QP_CONTROL_TABLESPACE
  • QP_CONTROL_DBPARTITIONGROUP
  • QP_CONTROL_DBPARTITIONNUM
  • QP_CONTROL_PATH, QP_CONTROL_DMS
  • QP_CONTROL_DMS_CONTAINER
  • QP_CONTROL_DMS_NUMPAGES
  • QP_RESULT_TABLESPACE
  • QP_RESULT_DBPARTITIONGROUP
  • QP_RESULT_DBPARTITIONNUM
  • QP_RESULT_PATH, QP_RESULT_DMS
  • QP_RESULT_DMS_CONTAINER
  • QP_RESULT_DMS_NUMPAGES
  • QP_REPLACE, QP_USERNAME
  • QP_DOMAIN
  • QP_PASSWORD

DB2 workload manager (WLM) is the preferred workload management solution since Version 9.5. It provides a greatly enhanced set of workload management functions that replace both Query Patroller and DB2 Governor.

Resolution

Starting in Version 9.7 Fix Pack 1, you can use a script called qpwlmmig.pl that generates a script that helps to migrate a Query Patroller environment to a WLM environment. See one of the following tasks for details on how to migrate from Query Patroller to DB2 workload manager:

You must run the qpwlmmig.pl script in your Version 9.7 DB2 copy where Query Patroller is installed before upgrading to Version 10.1. Query Patroller is not supported in Version 10.1. The qpwlmmig.pl script also runs in Version 9.5 DB2 copies where Query Patroller is installed.
