DB2 LOCATION NAME field

The DB2 LOCATION NAME setting specifies a unique name that requesters use to connect to this Db2 subsystem or Db2 data sharing group. The setting must be unique within the network, but must be the same on all members within a Db2 data sharing group.

Acceptable values: 1–16 alphanumeric characters, beginning with a letter, and containing no special characters
Default: LOC1

The location name must begin with a letter and cannot contain special characters. Acceptable characters are letters A–Z, numbers 0–9, and underscores.

You must specify a value for this field, even if you do not use DDF.

The value of this field is stored in the bootstrap data set (BSDS). The BSDS is updated by the change log inventory utility in step DSNTLOG of installation job DSNTIJUZ.
