Planning your deployment

To plan the Jazz™ for Service Management installation, you must choose your installation scenario. This choice is dependent on different factors, for example, the number of integration services to install, the use of existing database and application server middleware, the installation mode, or the user type.

These factors determine your installation scenario for Jazz for Service Management. You can also use the decision maps. See Installation decision maps.

Choose your integration services
You can choose to install all Jazz for Service Management integration services; alternatively, you can choose to install only a subset depending upon your organization’s needs. See Choosing your integration services.
Choose your installation scenario
You can choose to perform a full or custom installation of Jazz for Service Management. These installation scenarios support installing Jazz for Service Management on a single server or on multiple servers in a distributed environment. See Choosing your installation scenario.
Choose your topology
You can choose to install Jazz for Service Management on one, two, three, or four servers in a distributed environment. See Choosing your topology.
Choose whether to install IBM® WebSphere® Application Server
You can install WebSphere Application Server or you can use an existing WebSphere Application Server installation if it is a supported version. See Choosing whether to install WebSphere Application Server.
Choose whether to install IBM DB2®
You can install DB2 while performing a full installation, or you can use an existing DB2 installation if it is a supported version. See Choosing whether to install DB2.
Choose whether to install by using a GUI or in silent mode
You can install Jazz for Service Management by using a GUI, such as, the launchpad or IBM Installation Manager. You can all install all integration services by using Installation Manager in silent mode. See Choosing the installation mode.
Choose whether to install with or without administrative privileges
You can install as an administrator, known as root on UNIX systems, or as a non-administrator, known as non-root on UNIX systems. See Choosing the user type.
Choose whether to be FIPS-compliant
You can install and configure Jazz for Service Management and its database and application server software for FIPS. See Choosing whether to enable Jazz for Service Management for FIPS.
Choose whether to review installation and configuration scripts before installation
You can install only the Jazz for Service Management installation and configuration scripts, review them, and then run Installation Manager to them to deploy and configure the integration services. See Choosing whether to review installations files before installing.
