Changing the data

GDDM-PGF V2R1.3 Interactive Chart Utility
SC33-0328-01

Change the sample data to the data you need by putting in the words and numbers you want and removing any that you don't want. Move around the screen using the cursor tab keys.

The table below explains how to get over any problems that you may have.

 Problem  Solution
 Too much data in
 sample.
 Remove with ERASE EOF key.

 Old words or numbers
 too long.
Remove unwanted bits with ERASE EOF key.

Need more columns.  PF11 to get them; PF10 to get back.
Need more rows.  PF8 to get them; PF7 to get back.
 Not enough room for
 words.
Type what you can. (Then look at the box
 below.)
Decimal numbers.  Type them in with a decimal point (like 1.5).
 Something turns red.

You did something wrong. You probably typed a
letter where a number is needed.

If there is enough room for all your words, skip this next box.

 Problem  Solution
 Need longer column
 headings?

Type 2.3 on the green dashed Command line.

You go to a new panel called Data Group Names.

Type in the ends of the words.

Don't make them too long or they may not fit
 on the chart.

Type 2.1 on any green dashed line.

You go back to your data on the Data Entry
 panel.
 Need longer x labels?

Type 2.4 on the green dashed Command line.

You go to a new panel called Data Labels.

Type in the ends of the words.

Don't make them too long or they may not fit
 on the chart.

Type 2.1 on any green dashed line.

You go back to your data on the Data Entry
 panel.
 Note:

When you get back to the Data Entry panel, you
will not see the ends of the headings or
labels that you typed in, but they are there.

When the data looks correct, press PF3. You go back to the Chart By Example Data panel.

Type in 11. You go to the Chart Heading panel.

Type the heading you want over the top of what is already there. If you do not want a heading, press ERASE EOF. If the heading that is there is too long, press ERASE EOF to get rid of the extra letters.

Press PF3 twice. You go back to the Chart By Example panel.

Now you are ready to compose your chart by selecting from the little charts in ready-made or step-by-step charts.
