Setting up for C++ operator development

Set up your development environment for creating C++ operators by creating SPL projects, C/C++ projects, and synchronized C/C++ projects.

Before you begin

If you want to work with external C++ libraries, the C/C++ development tools must be installed. If you run Streams Studio remotely, the remote tools must also be installed.

Streams Studio includes these tools as optional features.

  • Creating an SPL project and an operator model for a C++ operator
    An SPL project represents an SPL toolkit. Create an SPL project to store toolkit artifacts that are required for defining a C++ operator. The SPL project also contains the SPL application for running and testing the C++ operator.
  • Creating a C/C++ project
    Create a C/C++ project to edit and build the implementation of the C++ operator. Link the C++ project to the SPL project that you created earlier so that the artifacts in the C++ project can be accessed by your SPL applications.
  • Creating a synchronized C/C++ project
    Create a synchronized C/C++ project to edit and build the implementation of the C++ operator when you work in a remote development environment. Link this C++ project to an SPL project that you created earlier, so that the artifacts in the remote C++ project can be accessed by your SPL applications.
