Preparing for IBM Multicloud Manager installation
Before you install IBM Multicloud Manager, review the system requirements and port information to prepare your cluster. See Importing a target managed cluster to the IBM Multicloud Manager hub cluster for information about importing managed clusters.
System Requirements
If you are installing IBM Multicloud Manager with IBM Cloud Private, the requirements are found in the IBM Cloud Private product documentation at System requirements

Required ports
See the following list of required ports that must be available for bidirectional communication between your hub cluster and managed cluster.
Port access types
External - port must be open to allow connections from outside the cluster.
Required ports for IBM Multicloud Manager hub cluster
The following table lists ports that need to be open for communication:

| 8001 | Default port for managed cluster to communicate with Kubernetes API server port on the hub cluster. |
| 8500 | Default port for managed cluster to communicate with IBM Cloud Private Docker registry on the hub cluster. |
| 30830 | Needed only when you enable high availability (HA) for IBM Multicloud Manager hub cluster. Default server Remote Procedure Call (RPC) address (TCP only) for consul communication. |
| 30831 | Needed only when you enable HA for IBM Multicloud Manager hub cluster. Default Serf LAN port (TCP and UDP) for consul communication. |
