Configuring cards

You can configure cards on a panel or tab of the Work Execution or Work Supervision Work Center to hide and show field labels and attributes, change field labels , or replace field attributes or labels and attributes.

Before you begin

  1. In the Work Execution or Work Supervision Work Center, click Edit to enter Design mode.
  2. In a panel or tab, select the representation of the card to open the Design card dialog box.

About this task

  • In the Work Execution Work Center, you work with one card for all tabs in the Work Center. In the Work Supervision Work Center, you work with one card for each panel in the Work Center.
  • Some fields consist of a label and a field value, or attribute. Other fields consist of the attribute only. When you configure different elements on a card, you might work with different configuration dialog boxes. In the following tasks, these dialog boxes are described generically as the configuration dialog box.
  • Image attributes and card actions are not currently configurable.

Hiding or showing field labels or attributes

Hidden fields are shown in Design mode with a strikethrough style. If the change is published, other fields move to take the space.

Procedure

  1. Select a field in the card to open the configuration dialog box.
  2. Set the Display control to Off or On.
  3. Click OK to close this dialog box.
  4. In the Design card dialog box, save your changes.

Changing field labels

The first label changes that you want to make available to users must be published. Subsequent changes are made available to users when the changes are saved. They do not need to be published.

Procedure

  1. Select a field label in the card to open the configuration dialog box.
  2. In the Label field, edit the text.
If the field also has an attribute, you also can delete the label text so that only the associated attribute value is displayed on the card.
  3. Click OK to close this dialog box.
  4. In the Design card dialog box, save your changes.

Replacing field labels and attributes or field attributes

In some fields, you can replace both labels and attributes. In other fields, you can replace only attributes. Examples of attribute-only fields include statuses and work types.

The Objects list includes the WORKORDER object and child objects that have a 1:1, or single cardinality, relationship with the WORKORDER object. For example, a work order can be associated with one location.

Procedure

  1. In the Objects list, select the WORKORDER object or an object that has a relationship with the WORKORDER object.
You can expand or narrow the selection scope by setting the Show only required database fields control to Off or On.
  2. If a selected child object has more than one relationship to the WORKORDER object, select the appropriate relationship in the Relationships list.
  3. In the Search for field value field, enter a term to search field and attribute names and descriptions.
  4. In the Fields list, select and drag a field to replace a field in the card and save your changes.

Example

In the following example, you are configuring a card for a work supervisor. This work supervisor approves PM work orders and often wants to know the identifier of the originating PM record. You want to replace the Location field label and attribute with the PM field label and attribute.

  1. In the Work Supervision Work Center, you enter Design mode and select the card in the Approve Work panel. The Design card dialog box opens.
  2. You narrow the selection scope by setting the Show only required database fields control to On.
  3. In the Objects list, select the child PM object. The Relationships list includes one relationship for PM. You select the Information icon to learn more about the relationship.
  4. In the Search for field value field, you enter pmnum and search.
  5. In the Fields list, you select the PM field. You select the Information icon to learn more about the field. This field is the field that you want on the card, so you select PM and drag it to replace the Location field in the card.
  6. You save your changes.
