Data Set Designer

Business analysts can use the Data Set Designer to create data sets quickly and without the involvement of IT personnel.

Building a data set in the Data Set Designer involves selecting an object set and specifying the content or fields that you want to include. You can then configure the content by selecting fields and applying filters and sorting. While you are configuring the data set, you can use the preview feature.

You can apply either an existing application query to your data set or you can create a new one. After you save the data set, you can export its contents to comma-separated value (CSV) format.

Before you can access the Data Set Designer, an administrator must add you to the security group template. Security group templates are provided to enable access to Work Centers and tools and tasks.

Update to report object structures (ROS)

To support Data Set Designer features, report object structures (ROS) are updated to enable the Support Flat Structure field. Report object structures are used in a variety of locations in Maximo® EAM SaaS, including QBR (Ad Hoc) Reporting and Result Set portlets.

All standard report object structures are updated and a script is provided to update any custom report object structures that you created.

Review your custom report object structures for alias conflicts. Alias conflicts occur when the same attribute name is used in multiple objects in the object structure. If you do not correct alias conflicts, problems might occur if you use them in the Data Set Designer features.
