Application Navigator overview

IBM Application Navigator is a tool that compliments the IBM Cloud® Private console, by allowing you to visualize, inspect, and interact with the deployed resources that comprise hybrid and cloud native applications.

For transitioning users: The following information is for IBM Application Navigator v1.0.0 only. For IBM Application Navigator v2.0.0, see https://ibm.github.io/appnav/.

IBM Application Navigator is designed to satisfy a need that focuses on containerized applications instead of an infrastructure view that the Kubernetes platform consoles provide. This IBM design yields a superior user experience for applications that dramatically surpasses the infrastructure view. For more information about this need, which the Kubernetes Application Special Interest Group (SIG) identified, see https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/application.

You can experience visualization of all defined applications because IBM Application Navigator offers more navigation within the respective components of the applications. Each component is a Kubernetes resource, such as a deployment or service resource, and has a Kind. IBM Application Navigator provides action menu items by Kind. These menu items provide URLs and scriptable commands that enable you to navigate to, and operate, other tools in context for the currently selected component.
