Product Overview

IBM® Cognos® TM1® integrates business planning, performance measurement, scorecarding, and multiple sources of data. Cognos TM1 provides immediate visibility into data, accountability within a collaborative process, and a consistent view of information. Cognos TM1 helps managers quickly identify and stabilize operational fluctuations to take advantage of new opportunities.

Step 1: Access your software

Step 3: Evaluate your hardware and system configuration

Step 6: Install Cognos TM1

  1. Ensure that the target computers meet the prerequisites referred to in Steps 3 and 5.
  2. Locate the installation issetup.exe file.
  3. Depending on your operating system software, right-click or double-click the issetup.exe file: on Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 operating system software, right-click the issetup.exe file and click Run as Administrator. For all other Windows operating system software, double-click issetup.exe.
  4. Select the components that you want to install:
    Installing on a single computer

    The components that you need to install Cognos TM1 10.2.2 on a single computer are selected by default. Accept the default selections.

    Installing across multiple computers

    To distribute the Cognos TM1 components across different computers, run the installation and select only the components you need for this computer. Then move to the other computers and select the other components you need during the installation. For detailed instructions on how to install different components on separate computers, see the IBM Cognos TM1 Installation and Configuration Guide.

Step 7: Configure and Start Cognos TM1 Components

After you install the Cognos TM1 components, use Cognos Configuration to take the following actions:

Step 8: Configure the user account for Cognos TM1 on Microsoft Windows

By default the Cognos TM1 installation configures the Cognos TM1 components to run as a service. After you install Cognos TM1 on a computer with a Microsoft Windows operating system, edit the services so that the user account that runs the service has the administrative privileges that are needed by Cognos TM1. For more information, see the IBM Cognos TM1 Installation and Configuration Guide.This requirement applies only to services on the Microsoft Windows operating system. Cognos TM1 services that are installed on UNIX always run as ROOT.
