Crawling Documentum sources on Linux on System z

To crawl Documentum sources, the Documentum foundation classes (DFC) must be installed on the IBM® Content Integrator server.

Procedure

Because the DFC is not supported on the Linux® on System z® platform, you must follow these steps to set up the configuration:

  1. On a Linux on System z machine, install IBM Content Integrator on the Watson Explorer Content Analytics server.
  2. Set up a connector to allow the crawler server to access Content Integrator repositories.
  3. On a separate Windows machine, install the DFC (point to the Documentum server) and install IBM Content Integrator in connectors-only mode. Install both of these products with the same user ID.
For assistance, consult the documentation for Documentum and IBM Content Integrator.
  4. On the Watson Explorer Content Analytics server, open the Content Integrator administration console and configure the DocumentConnector to enable the Remote Method Invocation (RMI) bridge to communicate with the DFC and the Content Integrator server that you installed in the previous step.
For assistance, see the Content Integrator documentation for information about configuring connectors.
  5. Open the Watson Explorer Content Analytics administration console and configure a Content Integrator crawler to crawl the Documentum sources
