Associating applications with collections

Before you can use a custom application for search or analytics, you must associate it with the collections that it can access.

About this task

An enterprise search application can search any number of collections. You can configure a content analytics miner to explore any number of collections, but users can explore one collection at a time.

Procedure

To associate an application with one or more collections:

  1. Click Security to open the Security view.
  2. In the collection-level security area, click Actions > Associate applications with collections.
  3. On the Configure Application IDs page, click Add Application ID.
  4. Type the ID of the enterprise search application or content analytics miner.
    The ID is specified in the applicationName parameter of the configuration file for the application. The ID for the provided enterprise search application is Search and the ID for the provided content analytics miner is Analytics.
  5. Select the collections that the application can access:
    • Click All collections to allow the application to access all of the collections that you add to the system.
    • Click All enterprise search collections or All content analytics collections if you want restrict the application to certain types of collections.
    • Click Specific collections if you want the application to access only the collections that you specify.

      When you select this option, a list of collection names is displayed. Select the check box for each collection that the application can access.
