Viewing device history in the MaaS360 Portal

You can view information about various actions that are taken on a device in the MaaS360® Portal. You can also view the current policy distribution status of a device.

Procedure

  1. From the MaaS360 Portal Home page, select Devices > Inventory.
    The Device Inventory window is displayed. This page includes a device grid that displays device details in the respective columns in the grid.
  2. Click View that is displayed under a device name.
    The Device Summary page is displayed.
  3. Click the drop-down next to the device name and select History.
    The History grid displays information about the actions taken on the device. You can sort the history to view by last 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 180 days, current and last month, or by all records.
  4. Review the following information for the device history:
    Option Description
    Action Date The date that an action was taken on the device.
    Action The action that was taken on the device.
    Action By The user name of the administrator who performed the action on the device.
    IP Address The IP address of the device.
    Status The status of the action taken on the device.
    Note: For the Change Policy action taken on a device, the status column displays the current policy distribution status for the device. For more information on various policy distribution statuses, see the Table 1 Policy distribution statuses.
    Comments Any comments that are included with the action.
    Details Provides additional information about the action taken on the device.
    The various policy distribution statuses available for the Change Policy action taken on a device are as follows:

    Policy assignment processed

    The device is eligible for policy delivery.
    Note: Hover over this status to view the reason why the policy delivery was triggered for this device
    MaaS360 performs various evaluations to identify the devices that are eligible for policy delivery.

    For information on the order of priority to decide which type of policy is applied on a device, see Using policy precedence on devices.

    Not Applicable The device is not eligible for policy delivery. MaaS360 performs various evaluations to identify devices that are not eligible for policy delivery.
    Note: When dynamic assignments are available, static assignments are not applicable.
    Scheduled for delivery The policy delivery is initiated and a policy update command has been scheduled for the device. The device must be online and must continuously report to the MaaS360 portal to receive the policy update command.
    Note: The device may remain in this status for a long time if the above given conditions are not met.
    Certificate requested The device waits for the Cloud Extender to generate and deploy the certificates required for the policy delivery.
    Note:
    • This status is applicable to devices that require certificates for policy delivery.
    • This status is not applicable to Android devices.
    The following conditions must be satisfied to successfully complete this stage:
    • The device must be online and must continuously report to the MaaS360 portal.
    • The Cloud Extender must be up and running.
    • The Cloud Extender must successfully generate and process certificates.
    • The certificate authority must be up and running.
    Note: The device may remain in this status for a long time if the above given conditions are not met.
    Policy installed The policy is successfully delivered to the device. All payloads were successfully installed.
    Policy delivery failed/Partial policy delivery failed) The policy failed to deliver to the device.
    Note: You can perform the Re-push policy action to apply the entire policy configuration to the device again. For more information, see Repushing a policy to devices section.

    A policy fails to deliver to a device if installation of all or some of the scheduled payloads fails.

    To view the list of failed payloads, navigate to the device summary page by clicking the Device Name. The Failed Settings field in the Workplace and Security section displays the list of payloads that failed to install.
