Adding devices in the MaaS360 Portal

Use the Add Devices tab to enroll your smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices in MaaS360®.

Procedure

  1. From the MaaS360 Portal Home page, select Devices > Inventory. The Device Inventory page is displayed.
  2. Click Add Device.
    The Add Device window is displayed.

  3. Select the Basic tab, and then provide the following details:
    Option Description
    Device addition mode Select the option Enroll with MDM to perform MDM device enrollment. If enrolling iOS device by self-enrollment mode, choose Enroll using user enrollment.
    Username The name of the user to who the device is being enrolled to in MaaS360.
    Domain The domain that is assigned to the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360. Use this domain to set up email accounts and wireless accounts.
    Email The email address that receives information about the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    License The license type that you want to assign to a device. All license types that are available for the customer account are listed. Administrators can assign more than one license to a device. For more information, see Assigning and managing licenses on devices.
    Note:
    • Licenses in Suspended state wont be available for selection.
    • For customers with a single license bundle, the license value is auto-populated by default and cannot be changed. If the license is in Suspended state, no license will be available for selection to enroll devices, and an error message will be displayed to indicate the same.
    Phone number The phone number of the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    Notify User The preferred method of contacting the device user about the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    Copy email The email addresses (comma-separated) that are notified about the devices that are enrolled in MaaS360.
    Important: Use Android Enterprise to enroll Android devices. To enable the Android Enterprise feature in the MaaS360 Portal, go to Setup > Services > Mobile Device Management, and then select the Enable Android Enterprise Solution Set checkbox.
  4. Select the Advanced tab, and then provide the following details:

    Option Description
    WorkPlace Persona policy The WorkPlace Persona policy applied to the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    Platform and MDM policy The operating system and the MDM policy for the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    Compliance rule set The rule set that is applied on the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    Device ownership The device ownership, corporate owned or employee owned, assigned to the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
    Authentication Mode

    MaaS360 automatically displays the authentication type configured for enrollment.

    This setting is populated from the configuration set in the following path: Settings > Directory and Enrollment > Basic Enrollment Settings > Authentication Mode for Enrollment.

    Note: If the authentication type for enrollment is not configured, the user-level authentication type is displayed. If the user-level authentication is unavailable, MaaS360 displays the default authentication type.
    Override authentication for enrollment with passcode Select to override the authentication type for enrollment with a passcode.
    Note:
    • If the password is not set for a MaaS360 user, this option is enabled by default.
    • This option does not apply if a user enrolls DEP devices.
    Comments Additional information about the device that you are enrolling in MaaS360.
  5. Click Send Request.
    MaaS360 sends an enrollment request to the specified device. When a user receives an enrollment request, the user must download the MaaS360 app. After the user installs the app on their device, the device sends data to MaaS360.
