Using LDAP on a stand-alone server

If you want a stand-alone server to use stand-alone LDAP as the security repository, you must change from federated repositories after the stand-alone profile is created. By default, the Profile Management Tool creates federated repositories when security is enabled during profile creation.

About this task

You can perform these steps only if you have not updated the IBM® Cognos® Business Intelligence configuration after it was configured for use with IBM Business Monitor.

Procedure

To use LDAP, complete the following steps:

  1. Switch from federated repositories to LDAP.
  2. Run the wsadmin command wbmDeployCognosService to configure the IBM Cognos BI service to work with LDAP.
Tip: To learn how to configure LDAP, see the "Configuring the LDAP people directory provider" topic in the related link section.
  3. Stop and restart the stand-alone server.

What to do next

To configure LDAP to operate in an integrated server environment, you must add internal users and groups to the LDAP registry. See the following topics in the related links section:
  • Configuring Lightweight Directory Access Protocol user registries
  • Configuring the LDAP people directory provider
  • Managing default users and groups
