Step 2: Plan the installation

Installing Maximo Health, Safety and Environment Manager requires system administrator rights and privileges. You install the product on a Microsoft Windows administrative workstation. You must ensure that IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.2 or a later version is installed on the same administrative workstation where you plan to install Maximo Health, Safety and Environment Manager 7.6, and in the same language as Maximo Health, Safety and Environment Manager 7.6.

For details about the software, system, and network requirements for Maximo Health, Safety and Environment Manager, refer to the System requirements for other Maximo products (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home/wiki/IBM%20Maximo%20Asset%20Management/page/Other%20Maximo%20products%20system%20requirements) page of the Maximo Asset Management wiki (opens in a new browser window or tab).

Restriction: In version 7.6, if Maximo for Oil and Gas 7.6 is installed, you have all the features of Maximo Health, Safety and Environment Manager. Therefore, do not install Maximo Health, Safety and Environment Manager in the same environment as Maximo for Oil and Gas because the versions are not compatible.

For information about upgrading to Maximo Asset Management version 7.6.0.2 from an earlier version of Maximo Asset Management, refer to the Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.2 feature pack download document (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24040699).

Step 3: Install the product

To install the product:

  3. Update the Maximo database. This is required if you chose the option Defer the Update of the Maximo Database during the installation.
  4. Build the enterprise application archive (EAR) files. This is required if you chose either Defer Maximo Application Redeployment or Defer the Update of the Maximo Database during the installation.
  5. For the IBM WebSphere® Application Server environments: The EAR files are installed during the Maximo Asset Management installation.
