The APPLY job for IBM z/OS Connect Unlimited 3.0.72.0 (and later) usermods completes with return code 04 and multiple GIM45401W messages are written.

Started task Applies to z/OS Connect Servers run by using a z/OS started task procedure.

Problem

Applying z/OS Connect 3.0.72.0 (and later) usermods (++APARs) to z/OS Connect Unlimited completes with return code 04 and multiple GIM45401W messages are written.

Symptoms

When the z/OS Connect Unlimited FMID JZC3003, is applied, the SMP/E APPLY job for z/OS Connect 3.0.72.0 (and later) usermods completes with return code 04. The job output contains multiple warning messages similar to the following.
GIM45401W PROGRAM BAQHAPIC IN SYSMOD <++APAR_number> WAS NOT PROCESSED BECAUSE THE FMID ON THE ++VER STATEMENT DOES NOT MATCH THE FMID IN THE PROGRAM ELEMENT ENTRY.

These warning messages are not written when the z/OS Connect Simultaneous Instance product is in use (that is, when the JZC3003 FMID is not installed).

Cause

From z/OS Connect 3.0.55.0, z/OS Connect Server zosConnect-3.0 support is available in the z/OS Connect Unlimited product. At z/OS Connect 3.0.72.0, z/OS Connect Server zosConnect-3.0 support was made available in the base z/OS Connect product (also known as Simultaneous Instance). Delivery of the z/OS Connect Server zosConnect-3.0 support in the base (Simultaneous Instance) z/OS Connect product requires the relevant files to be shipped for both the z/OS Connect core product FMID HZC3000 and the z/OS Connect Unlimited FMID JZC3003. The duplication of these parts results in the GIM45401W messages for all the duplicated parts and the SMP/E APPLY job completes with the following message:
GIM20501I APPLY PROCESSING IS COMPLETE. THE HIGHEST RETURN CODE WAS 04.
This behavior is expected. SMP/E applies only one copy of the duplicated parts to the z/OS Connect installation.

Environment
