You can use the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to change the primary
and secondary Virtual I/O Server logical
partitions (hereafter referred to as paging VIOS partitions)
that are assigned to a logical partition that uses shared memory.
You can also add or remove a secondary paging VIOS partition to or
from a logical partition that uses shared memory (hereafter referred
to as a shared memory partition).
To change the paging VIOS partitions that are assigned to
a shared memory partition, complete the following steps:
- In the navigation pane, open ,
and click the system on which the shared memory partition is located.
- In the work pane, select the logical partition, click the Tasks button,
and click . The Managed Profiles
window is displayed.
- Select the partition profile that you want to change.
- Click Actions, and click Edit. The Logical Partition Profile Properties window is displayed.
- Click the Memory tab.
- Specify a Virtual I/O Server logical
partition for VIOS 1 and VIOS 2.

- Click OK.
- Shut down the shared memory partition and reactivate it
with the changed partition profile.
After you change the paging VIOS partitions
that are assigned to a shared memory partition, restart the shared
memory partition with the changed partition profile. For instructions,
