Virtualizing Power Systems using the HMC Enhanced interface

Use this information to manage virtualization for your Power Systems™ servers by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC) Enhanced interface.

  • Setting up the virtualization environment
    You can use templates to set up your virtualization environment. Templates simplify the deployment process because templates contain many of the settings that you previously configured through separate processes and multiple steps.
  • Managing the virtualization environment
    You can use the Manage PowerVM® and Manage Partition functions on the Hardware Management Console (HMC) Version 8, Release 1, or later to manage the virtualization capabilities of your IBM® Power Systems servers.
  • Monitoring the virtualization environment
    The Performance and Capacity Monitor collects allocation and usage data for virtualized server resources. It displays data in the form of graphs and tables, which are viewable from the Performance and Capacity Monitor home page.
