Determining the number of available VTPMs in the destination server

To ensure that you can perform the Trusted Boot operation on mobile partitions that are capable of the Trusted Boot capability in the destination server, you must determine whether the destination server has an adequate number of available Virtual Trusted Platform Modules (VTPMs) for the mobile partitions to use.

You must be a super administrator to perform this task.
To determine whether the destination server has an adequate number of available VTPMs for the mobile partitions to use, complete the following steps from the Hardware Management Console (HMC):
  1. In the navigation pane, expand Systems Management and click Servers.
  2. In the work pane, select the destination server.
  3. From the Tasks menu, click Properties.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. Select Virtual Trusted Platform Module from the list.

The HMC Classic interface is not supported in Hardware Management Console (HMC) Version 8.7.0, or later. The functions that were previously available in the HMC Classic interface are now available in the HMC Enhanced+ interface.

When the HMC is at version 8.7.0, or later, complete the following steps to view the number of available VTPMs in the destination server:
    1. In the navigation pane, click the Resources icon The icon represents the Resources function of the HMC.
    2. Click All Systems. The All Systems page is displayed.
    3. In the work pane, select the system and click Actions > View System Properties. The Properties page is displayed.
    4. Click Advanced.
  6. Record the number of available VTPM-capable mobile partitions. If this value is greater than or equal to the number of VTPM-enabled mobile partitions to be migrated, it indicates that the destination server has an adequate number of available VTPMs for the mobile partitions to use.
