Supermicro SYS-2028U-TRTP+ servers
This information provides an example of the key ports and slots on the server, and describes how they are used by the software.
For more information about the server, see the manufacturer's documentation.

Server port | How that port is used by the IBM Spectrum Virtualize™ software |
---|---|
Ethernet 1 | Dedicated technician port that is used for initialization or service |
Ethernet 2 | Management IP 1 and service IP |
Ethernet 3 | Management IP 2, and service IP |
Ethernet 4 | Unused |
Dedicated IPMI Ethernet port | Is not used by the IBM Spectrum Virtualize software. |
Server PCIe slot | How that slot is used by the IBM Spectrum Virtualize software |
---|---|
Slot 1 | SAN adapter slot 1 |
Slot 2 | SAN adapter slot 2 |
Slot 3 | SAS adapter for the boot drives Note: The SAS adapter must be plugged into slot 3, and the cabling from the adapter must be plugged into the first set of drive slots (looking left-to-right, on the front of the system).
|
Slot 4* | Ethernet port 3 and 4 Note: The Ethernet adapter in slot 4 must be an Intel I350-based 2-port card
|
Slot 5* | SAN adapter slot 3 |
Slot 6* | SAN adapter slot 4 |
Slot 7* | SAN adapter slot 5 |
Slot 8* | SAN adapter slot 6 |
* Slots 4-8 require the installation of a second processor into CPU socket 2, because the PCI lanes on this server are split between CPU sockets.
Note: The boot drives are numbered 0 - 7, and can be displayed by viewing the output from the sainfo lsbootdrive and svcinfo lsnodebootdrive commands.
- FC Port Map
- The FC port map can contain only information about 16 ports. It only can store maps for four slots that contain quad port adapters. Using the assumption that you are using quad port adapters, and place them in slots 5-8, the default port mask is set to the following values:
51-51,52-52,53-53,54-54,61-61,62-62,63-63,64-64,71-71,72-72,73-73,74-74,81-81,82-82,83-83,84-84
- If an FC adapter is placed in PCIe slots 1 or 2, an 842 node error is raised and the error data indicates the port that was not mapped. The fcportmap must be fixed by using the following command: satask chvpd -fcportmap new map. If you are only using two port cards, then all slots can be mapped within a single fcportmap.
